WE WANTED To let you know about some changes in the world of Rock Candy. After much work behind the scenes, we’ve now expanded our horizons and set up a North American operation in conjunction with RED Distribution based out of New York. We will be releasing a number of select titles that will be on sale domestically through physical stores, your favourite on-line retailers such as Amazon US and, of course, via mail order but from a special dedicated Rock Candy US Website.
This will mean that all US and Canadian based customers who want to order new releases directly from Rock Candy will have to use this new website address.
However, if you live in the rest of the world (UK, Europe, Japan etc) there’s nothing to worry about as you’ll still be able purchase the new titles from your usual purchase points including the present Rock Candy website.
Right now you can pre-order the first four titles under this new arrangement – get them sent to you on the release date of November 18th – that’s Sammy Hagar ‘All Night Long’, Salty God ‘Every Dog Has It’s day’, the Nymphs ‘S/T’ and Tyketto ‘Don’t Come Easy’. The important information to keep in mind is that if you do live in the USA and Canada you will be blocked from ordering from the UK and will be automatically redirected to the North American web address.
This new situation will only affect newly released product and will not affect you ordering from our vast back catalogue of CDs.
In addition, we are also introducing a line of Rock Candy T-shirts, so look out for those.
For our part, this move will eventually see a lot more titles becoming available that were previously out of reach to us in the UK. So it’s going to be a very good thing indeed.
Thanks for helping us to grow Rock Candy over the last few years and here’s to an exciting future.
WE GET LOTS requests for info about release dates – if we always knew for certain we’d provide that information here. Sadly, it’s not always possible to get an accurate estimate of when titles will be available. Licensing is not an exact science – we occasionally get derailed by technical and paperwork issues but 99% of prospective future titles mentioned on this page are signed, sealed and well… not quite delivered, but you get our drift. So just keep an eye on this page for a quick update of what is and what is not on deck.
By way of an explanation to the releases we choose you should be aware that the licensing procedure is fraught with complications. Rock Candy is a 100% legitimate operation. We do not release counterfeit product and always work in complete co-operation with the rights owners to ensure a quality product is delivered. As it is not always possible to secure the appropriate rights we have to reluctantly leave some planned releases behind and move forward to other titles.
We receive numerous requests asking to reissue certain albums – some are massive sellers and some are very obscure. We do try to weigh up those requests with economic realities and whilst the debut self titled album by, say, A440 may be top of your want list, as well as ours too, I’m afraid sometimes it doesn’t make sense financially – we’ll end up taking, what is termed, a bath. Also, we often receive requests for more bonus tracks. Sadly, some artists and bands never recorded extra tracks at the time of the initial sessions. In addition, if extra tracks do exists we are at the mercy of the rights owners to allow us to use those recordings. It’s a very complicated process clouded by legalities and permissions that lay totally outside of Rock Candy’s sphere of influence. Sadly, counterfeit operations share no such qualms. Even live tracks are subject to the same rigorous vetting processes but we always try wherever possible to feature extra material.
